Reading (MEd & CAGS)

This program is designed for those who hold an initial license in Early Childhood, Elementary, Moderate Disabilities or other teaching area and who have taught at least one year under that license. Successful completion of the program will entitle candidates to be endorsed for initial licensure as reading specialists in Massachusetts. The program is composed of three major elements: the theoretical perspective that explores the process of reading as it relates to the other language processes of listening; speaking and writing, the diagnostic component that gains insight into a child's reading process, and a practical component, in which research is related to practice, and reading-strategy instruction is applied and refined in direct contact with children.
