This graduate program is designed for those educators with an Initial Teaching License who are seeking professional licensure in the same field and at the same level. The education department has state-approved programs for professional licensure in Early Childhood, Elementary and Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8). For teachers on the middle/secondary level and Moderate Disabilities (5-12), according to current DESE regulations, teachers earning a master's degree will qualify for professional licensure upon completion of 12 graduate credits in their field of knowledge (e.g. biology) and three years of successful teaching under their initial license.
