This course is the third in a series of three clinical medicine courses and provides an overview of pathological conditions affecting the central and peripheral neuromuscular systems. Physicians, rehabilitation specialists, and healthcare professionals supplement class presentations. Emphasis is placed on knowledge of pathology, recognition of clinical signs and symptoms as well as implications for patient management. This information will establish a foundation for management of patients with neuromuscular dysfunction. The student integrates this knowledge with physical therapy patient examination in Neuromuscular Patient Management I, and patient treatment planning in Neuromuscular Patient Management II. This course prepares students for their second summer internship.
