SUPPORTING YOU
FROM DAY ONE

Hannah Hayes

Degree(s) held and from what institution(s): Bachelor of Science in management from Keene State College

Two sentences summarizing you, and your experience at AIC:

I am new to AIC's admission staff and very excited to be here. I enjoy being able to split my time between working with students and organizing all of our admissions events. In my spare time I am always listening to music, creating new dishes in the kitchen, and trying to stay active.

What I love about American International College: I love how everyone is part of a very supportive and close-knit community.

Why I love being an admissions counselor: I love helping others unravel the possibilities that AIC has to offer and slowly discovering how dreaming big can turn into reality.

Favorite book: Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, by David Sedaris

Favorite movie: Big Fish

Favorite musician: The National

Favorite vacation destination: Disney World

Something you might not know about me: My first job was working as 'Santa's Helper' at the mall, taking pictures of Santa.

Favorite part of living in this area: I love that we have all four seasons and different outdoor activities that go with each.

Favorite quote:

"Be careful what you pretend to be because you are what you pretend to be" - Kurt Vonnegut

When I'm not at work, I can be found: If I am not at work I am out enjoying any type of live music, trying new foods, or shopping at the mall.

Favorite college memory: One day I was heading to my African Music class expecting to take a quiz and instead there was a room full of percussion instruments. We spent the entire class learning different rhythms, dances, and songs relating to our lessons. I was engulfed in another culture right in a classroom without any previous experience. We traveled through Africa, the Caribbean and to the U.S.

Favorite childhood memory: Halloween was always one of my favorite holidays growing up. I will never forget planning our 'strategic route' around the neighborhood for trick-or-treating with my neighbors and sometimes even coordinating costumes. We would be out until our pillowcases were full, jumping over brick walls while our parents yelled at us to slow down. We even would rest halfway through the night at a friend's house down the road, sipping cider and trading the first half of our loot.

Name a person alive or deceased that you would like to meet and why:

Gail Simmons, who is very active in food industry shows such as Top Chef as a judge and works for Food & Wine magazine. I love food and to cook. She's also a vegetarian, which I have been for many years. I would love to sit down and talk about the food industry and vegetarianism and how to balance life and being a star.

One thing you could not live without:

Chocolate chip cookies

Favorite hobby: Golfing

If I won the lottery I would: I would travel the world; then work with nonprofit organizations promoting the arts in education.

Playlist:

"Diamonds on the Soles of her Shoes," Paul Simon

"We are Young," Fun

"Lonely Boy," The Black Keys

"Send Me on My Way," Rusted Root
