Mission Statement
Expressing your thoughts and ideas through writing can be a difficult task. The Writing Center is available to help with planning, reviewing, and revising your essays and written assignments. Tutors recognize that students will come to the center with individual needs and writing habits, and they are committed to helping students from all disciplines.
Services
- The Writing Center is a free service that offers one-on-one tutoring, and small group conferences on various aspects of the writing process, by appointment (413.654.1441) or on a drop-in basis to students throughout the college.
- Students can bring writing assignments from any course to the Writing Center.
- Students and tutors work together on various aspects of writing: brainstorming, thesis development, outlining, organizing, formatting, structure, and mechanics.
Workshops
Professors invite a representative from the Writing Center to come to their classes and speak with their students about some particular writing-themed topic.
Some workshops include:
- APA or MLA Formatting
- Writing about Literature
- Steps to Writing Well (for research papers)
- Creating a Functional Outline

The AIC Writing Center is located in the Center for Academic Success on the lower level of the Shea Memorial Library.

Mondays 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Tuesdays 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Wednesdays 8:30 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.
Thursdays 8:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. (extended evening hours)
