Summer Instruction Program

For over 40 years, the Curtis Blake Center at American International College has been working with language learning disabled students whose unique learning needs require research-based teaching strategies. In our Summer Instructional Clinic we provide students with four weeks of intensive one-on-one sessions with experienced tutors in a fun setting. Candidates for this clinic typically present below grade level performance in one or more areas involving oral language, decoding, comprehension, spelling, or written expression. We don't limit our focus to just academics. Here's what you can expect from the clinic:

We'll provide a continuum of instruction, ensuring that gains made during the academic year will stabilize and improve
We'll teach the most current, research-based strategies for literacy development, not guess what works best
We'll enhance your child's motivation and self-esteem through repeated success and consistent encouragement

The clinic is held on the campus of American International College and sessions meet daily throughout the month of July. Enrollment is limited to ensure that each student gets the personal attention he or she deserves.

Prior to the clinic we require whatever relevant information will help pair your child with the tutor best suited to his or her needs. This information is also used to determine starting points and skills on which to focus. Typically we receive parent input, a brief teacher report, a current IEP (if available) and current work samples.
