American International College is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located on a 70+ acre campus in Springfield, Massachusetts. The campus has 42 buildings on two sites approximately 1/2 mile apart with a total of approximately 660,000 gross square feet. Included in the inventory of buildings are student residences for a resident population of 900 students. Founded in 1885, the College has 3700 graduate and undergraduate students. Reporting to the Manager of Administrative Computing, the Data Management Support Specialist is responsible for support, training, data analysis, integrity and data warehouse needs for AICís student information system. The position works closely with other database analysts to execute the strategic goals of data integration and reporting between all campus database systems.

The individual will have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills, including demonstrated ability to assess, evaluate and implement organizational initiatives.


  • Support Registrar and Student Account staff in the implementation and use of the college's student information system.
  • Troubleshoot problems involving records and data management while seeking operational efficiencies and improving data accuracy and integrity.
  • Develop, monitor and analyze reports with other IT staff that tie data between systems to meet strategic and operational goals.
  • With other IT staff, implement and maintain a data warehouse to enable the monitoring of key performance indicators institution-wide. Work with offices to build meta data libraries as part of the data warehouse.
  • Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures to ensure integrity, adherence to the collegeís data dictionary, security and confidentiality of data.
  • Work with offices to use the Jenzabar portal and systems to improve communication and efficiencies.
  • Train office staff in the most effective use of systems.
  • Produce and maintain system documentation for Jenzabar systems.
  • Assist staff in the development and use of ad hoc reports.

  • Requires a Bachelorís Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with Student Information Systems (SIS) required; experience with Jenzabar SIS preferred.
  • Must be experienced with ERP relational database systems and data warehousing methodologies.
  • Experience with Jenzabar, Informix, Pervasive (or other ETL) database tools or Cognos reporting a plus.
  • Experience working in college/university management with processes and procedures in Student Accounts, Registrar functions and/or Portal systems.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience writing and managing enterprise level reporting.
  • Experience with Jenzabar Portal, JX and/or CX student information system preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of relational databases and all Microsoft Office products.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and provide solution-oriented recommendations.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to serve as a backup to other team members.
  • Excellent attention to detail.


The Data Management Support Specialist is a full time, twelve (12) month, exempt position not limited to 35 hours per week with hours of work flexible to the needs of the department. This is a benefit eligible position.
