The ceremony was conducted by Paul Desmarais, professor of mathematics and faculty advisor for Alpha Chi. Augustus Pesce, Education Professor Emeritus was the keynote speaker.
Alpha Chi recognizes high academic achievement and encourages students to continue their studies through graduate work. Students inducted are within the top 10 percent of their class, and have accrued at least 60 college credits. The organization supports a scholarship program on behalf of the students, a number of regional and national programs and a yearly magazine and newsletter.
Alpha Chi was founded in 1915 and is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies. The AIC chapter, the first in the Northeast, was founded in 1948.
American International College is a private, coeducational institution offering undergraduate and graduate programs in the schools of Arts, Sciences and Education, Business Administration, Health Sciences, and Continuing Education.
