American International College (AIC) is sponsoring the 2nd annual Run for Education, a 5k race to bring awareness to the importance of K-12 education. The event will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013

Runners from throughout New England are expected to participate in American International College's 2nd annual Run for Education.

Heather Cahill, Executive Director for Institutional Advancement, said in addition to the goal of raising awareness for educational needs, the race will also raise funds for the Pre-K to 12 cause, as well as funds for AIC scholarships. "The top three running teams will receive a cash prize, with an additional donation to the school of their choice.

"The team that places first will win a $500 prize, as well as $2,500 for their school. Individuals and teams that place in the top three will also receive cash prizes and donations," she said.

AIC president Vince M. Maniaci said the race emphasizes healthy intellects for our children, healthy bodies for all and the civic health of Springfield by highlighting the beautiful revitalization of the State St. corridor."

"It is our hope that teachers, administrators, and runners at all skill levels will join AIC and the K-12 Teacher's Alliance in raising awareness of the essential role that our schools play in fashioning our future," Maniaci said.
