Springfield's Keshawn Dodds is going Hollywood. Dodds, the Director of Greek Life at American International College, is teaming up with award winning producer/director Stephen "Stix" Josey, to produce a movie based on Dodds' recent book, "Who's On My Side."
Josey was on campus Wednesday, Oct. 10 in the Griswold Theatre lobby to announce the new project, a full length feature movie, set to be filmed in Springfield.
Dodds, known for his his motivational speaking and writing of children's book, recently teamed up with 4King Edward Enterprises and D.R.E.A.M. Studios for the stage adaptation of the book.
Dodds said the story is about an 18-year-old boy, who has been mentally and physically abused by his alcoholic father. Throughout the story, he relies on his best friends to help him deal with his father and also a very dangerous and illegal gun business. "With all of the conflicts that have risen in his life, the journey will come to an eye opening conclusion during the summer of his eighteenth birthday," Dodds said.
Josey, writer/producer/actor and director of MSJ Productions, Film and Music, received the Best First Time Director Award in 2012 at the Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, for his film, "Angels Around Me."
Josey will also will be at AIC on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, to show his award winning film, ďAngels Around Me,Ē which will be hosted by AICís student organization, P.R.I.D.E. (Persons Ready In Defense of Ebony). He and Dodds will also be hosting a Q & A session about the film with the movies lead actor, Scott Nuefville.
