Lea Johnson, Ed.D., of Carlisle, Mass., has been named associate dean of the School of Business Administration at American International College. The appointment was announced recently by John Rogers, dean of the School of Business Administration at AIC.

Johnson's primary responsibility will be to manage and develop the new programs that the college has launched in the past year - notably programs in public administration, non-profit management, and organization development and executive development programs in specialized industries.

The proposed articulation agreements with Global Campus Management and its affiliates in Asia will also be an area of attention, as will responsibility for the processes of accreditation and assessment and coordinating strategic and long-range planning for the business school.

Johnson has extensive experience in higher education administration, most recently with Northeastern University, where she was a division director at the School for Professional and Continuing Studies, and held responsibility for over 20 graduate and undergraduate programs. She also established and ran an institute in healthcare leadership at Northeastern, and served as the assistant dean of their nursing program. Prior to joining Northeastern, Johnson worked in the School of Management at Suffolk University in Boston.

Her corporate career has included serving as vice president at Hill and Knowlton International (public relations and marketing), in addition to positions in publishing and national public service advertising. She holds a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania and master's degrees from Boston University, Western Illinois University and the MGH Institute.
