Veterans receiving their degrees at American International College will be honored at a special ceremony. The 2013 Admiral Hines Alumni Veterans Ribbon Ceremony will be held Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the International Room of Lee Hall.
This year's ribbon ceremony will honor eight graduating seniors. Among the students being recognized are Todd Brower, Crystal Lamb and Sean Garcia of Springfield; Louis Faivre and Amber Dutton of Chicopee; Michale Barclay of Palmer; David Babineau of Lynn; and Luis Gomez of East Windsor, Conn.
Diane Furtek, director of the AIC Veterans' Resource Center, said the event is a way to thank the veterans for their service to the country, and to congratulate them on their academic success. "The college has been very active in providing a variety of campus services for returning veterans, and having community representatives available to discuss resources such as health care, career development, academic assistance, financial aid, personal wellness, the GI Bill, disability support and more. We want veterans to feel at home here at AIC," she said.
The Veteran's Alumni Committee created this event to honor graduating seniors who have served or are currently serving for their country. Admiral John F. Hines, served as the eighth president of American International College from 1953–1969.
