Careers in Marketing
In general, marketing professionals are responsible for
- Developing and managing products and services for consumers and businesses
- Creating customers and managing customer satisfaction
- Marketing communications, including advertising, public relations, sales promotion, events and electronic (e.g., internet)
- Physical distribution through different channels (stores, internet, direct marketing, etc) and partners (retailers, wholesalers, etc)
Marketing professionals come in all shapes and sizes, so to speak. Outgoing, energetic, and creative people often enjoy careers in marketing communications, and sales. Analytical and more technically oriented people often choose careers in marketing research, e-commerce, and physical distribution. Some like to specialize in a large corporation where others like to do a bit of everything while working for themselves or smaller companies.
As a result, there are a wide variety of careers in both businesses and not-for profit organizations.
