Study Away

The School of Arts, Education, and Sciences encourages all students to consider "study abroad" or "study away."

American International College has an instructional site in Egypt and  one being developed in Ireland for January 2008 spring semester.

We urge you to experience the joys of other cultures, enrich your studies, and broaden your perspective of our world.  As part of your educational experience at AIC, we encourage you to travel or study abroad.

You may "study abroad" for a semester beginning the spring semester of your sophomore year.  "Study Away" will be more appropriate for some academic fields or majors than others.  To explore ways in which you, too, can broaden your perspective of our world and experience life in today's global society in a way that best fits in with your own degree program, please contact Vice President Roland Holstead by email: Roland.Holstead@aic.edu or telephone: 413-205-3440

"AIC in Ireland" -- Spring Semester 2008

"AIC in Egypt" -- Spring Semester 2008

"AIC in Washington" -- Internships in the Nation's Capital

The College has a strong heritage of sending Political Science and History majors as well as other students interested in Public Policy to The Washington Center or helping to arrange other learning experiences in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Julie Walsh is happy to work with individual students to facilitate such opportunities.

Individual Study Away Opportunities

Right now the College has mechanisms in place by which students may arrange independent study away ventures through consultation with their faculty advisors and dean.  "Study Away" refers to both study abroad as well as study at other domestic locations, such as Washington, D.C.

American International College is, however, also now expanding, refining, and streamlining our current bureaucratic process in order to allow greater opportunities to students for study away in the future -- and to do so in a way that facilitates your ability to integrate your study away into your degree program and to allow your continued matriculation at AIC.

Every department in the School of Arts, Education, and Sciences has a contact person for discussing the feasibility of Study Away for your particular degree program.
