Program Overview

a. The International Business Program is broken down into two levels of instruction. The core-level courses focus on international business princi­ples and concepts; cultural diversity awareness and sensitivity; an understanding of geography and its regional and global implications; and multinational enterprise operations and administration. The upper-level courses provide the students with an in-depth understanding, from an international perspective, of marketing, human resource management, export-import management and special topics like big emerging markets.

b. The four year Program is tied together through an international business system-level simulation taken in the student's senior year. There is also a School of Business capstone course that inte­grates all the business disciplines together.

d. The Program includes an international business internship requirement which gives the students the opportunity to apply what they have learned in class by working in a real world company.

e. The Program is balanced with a strong liberal arts requirement in English, humanities, social sciences, mathematics, and the basic sciences.

Program Learning  Objectives

a. Provide knowledge of the theories, concepts, principles, practices, and applications associated with international business.

b. Provide an appreciation on how multinational business organizations interact with its cultural, economic, political and legal environments.

c. Provide knowledge of the issues and trends which will affect international business in the future.

d. Develop confidence in oral and communicative skills that are critical to effective business management.

e. Learn from each other by sharing individual perspectives and personal experiences.

Program Learning Outcomes

a. Provide the student with the professional and personal skills needed to pursue a successful international business career in either the private or public sector.

b. Develop an awareness of political, social, and cultural sensitivities that exist in every society that is important to meaningful relationships and for success in every walk of life.

c. Appreciate the interdependency among nations around the world that has resulted from globalization.

d. Participate in research work and special projects as a team player with the ability to conduct comprehensive analyses and to present the results in an efficient and timely manner.

e. Communicate effectively one’s ideas in a clear and precise manner.
