GARY LEONCE LEFORT
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
CHAIR, INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS DEPARTMENT
Professor Gary Lefort has over thirty-five years of business and technical-related experience at all levels of management in both the government and private sectors on a domestic and international basis. His areas of expertise include international business; cultural diversity training; international negotiations; business administration; executive-level management; ISO-9000 quality management; U.S. government procurement; and domestic/inter-national market research, technical assessments, and database management.
In 1990, Professor Lefort retired from the U.S. Army in the grade of Lieutenant Colonel after twenty-two years of military service. In 1991, Professor Lefort founded his own company, Business and Government Services (BGS), specializing in business and professional consultant services on both a domestic and international basis. Based on his broad-based international business experience, Professor Lefort became a full-time faculty member at the American International College (AIC), Springfield, Massachusetts in 1997. He was appointed the Department Chairperson for the International Business Department in 1998. Professor Lefort earned his MBA from Boston University in 1977 and BBA from the University of Massachusetts in 1968.
In 1997, Professor Lefort authored the book, Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA): Transferring Federal Technologies to the U.S. Marketplace, published by Carnahan Publications, Fountain Valley, CA. In 2004, he authored Chapter 12, Global Negotiations-Cases and Exercises, in the book entitled Global Business Negotiations: A Practical Guide published by Thomson-Southwestern. During 2001-2005, he authored a series of international business exercises, case studies and research projects for the Center of International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the University of Connecticut.
His foreign travel includes: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Crete, England, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Scotland, St. Martin, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Vietnam.
