Konicki named Sports Information Director at AIC

SPRINGFIELD--A Springfield native has been named Sports Information Director at American International College. Darryl Konicki will assume the new post on Oct. 1. The announcement was made recently by Richard F. Bedard, director of athletics at AIC.
Konicki comes to AIC from Ithaca College, where he served as assistant director of sports information. At Ithaca, Konicki was responsible for publicizing the 25-sport athletic department, producing the various media guides, and managing in-game, season and career statistics.
"Darryl comes to us with an excellent background and superior recommendations," Bedard said. "The fact that he grew up in the Springfield area is a bonus. We are very excited about him joining the AIC Athletic Department Team, and we expect to give him a lot to write about," he said.
Konicki, a graduate of the High School of Science and Technology, received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Western New England College.
Konicki's experience also includes a stint as assistant director of athletic communications for the USMMA Athletic Association in Kings Point, N.Y., publicizing the 23-sport athletics department. He also maintained the athletic department's web site and managed in-game and season statistics.
Konicki brings plenty of hockey experience to the Division I Yellow Jackets, having interned at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn., and with the Springfield Falcons.
