AIC launches Children's Reading Hour at Shea Library

Keshawn E. Dodds Reads to children

SPRINGFIELD-- Local author Keshawn E. Dodds was the first reader in the AIC Children's Reading Hour series in the Shea Library at American International College. Dodds read from his book, “Menzuo, in the Calling of the Sun Prince,” on Saturday, Sept. 8. It is the introductory book in the "Solar Warriors" series.

Dodds, a Springfield native, is the director of alumni and community relations at AIC. After receiving his bachelor's degree from AIC, Dodds worked as a fifth grade teacher at the Homer St. School, before taking on the position of mayoral aide for Springfield Mayor Charles Ryan.

The reading hour is open to children, ages 6-12, free of charge. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Children's Reading Hour is part of the PALS (Public Access to Library Services) program launched by the college as a means of providing community access to the Shea Library. The reading hour is held each Saturday morning, hosted by AIC students and faculty.

If you are interested in reading, donating a book, or would like to bring a group of children to the Shea Library for the Children's Reading hour, please contact George Morgan, community service coordinator, at x3122.
