Students celebrate Holidays Around the World

SPRINGFIELD--This time of year it is easy to forget what the holidays are all about. At American International College, students held a special event focusing on the true meaning of the holidays.

The Campus Ministry and Multicultural Affairs Office at American International College sponsored "Holidays Around the World," on Wednesday, December 12 at noon in the Bradley Room, 2nd floor of the Campus Center.

The event featured students of different faiths, nationalities and cultures who discussed the holidays and how they are celebrated. Rev. John McDonagh talked about the Christian holidays; Erin Lebowitz explained the celebration of Chanukah; Edina Skaljic discussed Muslim holidays;Naomi White-Inniss presented a Kwanzaa demonstration; Audrey Aracil talked about Three King's Day; Darren James explained holiday celebration on St Maartin and Himani Jani gave a presentation on holidays in India.

The Rev. Jim Munroe talked about the importance of helping those who may be less fortunate, and thanked AIC students Meghan Smith and Sara Recchini for the work they have done helping the homeless.

Christina Boltz provided the musical entertainment, opening the event with the singing of The Christmas Song.
