Chemistry students put on show for youngsters

SPRINGFIELD-- Colored flames, bursting bubbles, burning money and a billowy concoction called "elephant toothpaste" is what second graders at the Homer St. school saw when they visited American International College for a Chemistry Magic Show.

More than 50 Homer St. students were treated to the chemistry demonstration by AIC chemistry students on Wednesday, March 5 at 1:30 p.m. The demonstration took place in Breck Hall, room 109.

AIC Chemistry professor David Luzgin said the event is beneficial for both the youngsters and the college students. "The younger students saw how much fun science and chemistry can be, while my chemistry students may want to become teachers after they watched the second graders' reactions, and listen to their questions."
