The College
American International College is a private, coeducational, four-year comprehensive institution of higher learning.
American International College was founded on July 18, 1885. It was chartered by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts on September 18, 1885 and its tradition of transforming lives began when the first classes were held on October 27, 1885.
The Campus
Twenty-five buildings in the neo-Georgian tradition on fifty-two treed and landscaped acres in the midst of an urban environment, including the Schwartz Campus Center, the Karen Sprague Cultural Arts Center with the Esther B. Griswold Theatre for the Performing Arts, and the Metcalf Gymnasium.
American International is in the geographic center of Springfield, Massachusetts, a city of 160,000 in the historic Connecticut River Valley. The metropolitan area is home to one half-million people. Intellectual, cultural, recreational, and commercial resources abound with easy access from the College.
Academic Organization
There are four schools headed by deans that comprise Academic Affairs which is headed by a Vice President: Arts, Education and Sciences; Business Administration; Health Sciences; and Continuing and Extended Education.

Library
James J. Shea Sr. Memorial Library contains more than 76,000 volumes, 14,900 bound periodicals, 85,000 units of microfilm, and 600 sound recordings and tapes; subscribes to more than 400 current periodicals. Through on-line data access, innumerable educational resources are available to our students.
Computers
Personal Computers (PCs) are available for student use at the Computer Center, the Shea Library, and in the computer labs. Academic buildings and residential halls are "wireless" for easy access to the Internet.
Housing
Students who live on campus may choose from traditional three single-sex or two coeducational residence halls, or a resident hall of suites.
