Throughout its 123 year history, American International College has educated more than 14,000 men and women who have gone on to lead successful careers. Many have truly made a difference in the lives of others as well. We are proud to have provided transforming educational experiences that have prepared our graduates to meet life's challenges and to succeed and prosper in the global environment.
American International College has been a pioneer in offering educational opportunities to people with promise. A few of our pioneering efforts include:
- Our founding in 1885 to provide new citizens with education to transform their lives with opportunities for success
- Admission of women in 1892, the first private college in the region to become coeducational
- The establishment of a very active and much emulated Student Government in 1933
- The establishment of a Model Congress in 1941, which continues as the longest running in the nation
- First college in Western Massachusetts to offer an Executive Development Program leading to an MBA degree, 1953
- First college to offer an International Business major with its own academic department
- First area college to offer a Criminal Justice major
- Only area college to offer a doctorate in Educational Psychology with a specialty in learning disabilities
- Only area college to offer a Masters of Science in Accounting and Taxation degree
- In 1996, we built a new Health Science Complex (36,0000 sq ft to support our Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Nursing majors)
- In 1998, we completed the first phase of the American International Communication Center, equipped with the latest digital television, audio, and video equipment.
- In 1999, both Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy gained accreditation by their respective accrediting organizations, each in its first year of eligibility.
- Marketing Communication majors in both Communication and Business.
- Sports Managment and Hospitality Mangement majors in the School of Business.
- Increased our public service commitment - American International students logged over 20,000 hours of public service.
- In 2004, Edgewood Gardens Apartment Suites Resident Hall opened for upper division students.
- 2007 witnessed the offering of the Master of International Education in Cairo, Egypt
