AVISTA Program
(Alumni Volunteers in Service to Admissions)
Creating relationships between alumni and prospective/accepted students is a powerful way to strengthen the AIC community and help students understand that they are part of an educational tradition that expands far beyond their immediate experience. Prospective students are faced with many options during their college search, and the "personal touch" of hearing from an AIC alumnus or alumna can often have a strong impact on their decision to attend.
There are many ways that you can participate in the AVISTA program. Even a small commitment of time can make a difference and help our incoming students to feel special and supported. Ways to help include:
- Representing AIC at College Fairs in your area
- Calling students who have applied or been admitted to AIC to offer your congratulations
- Signing admission letters
- Facilitating on-line chat sessions in conjunction with Admissions staff
- Visiting a local high school to talk to guidance counselors and/or students about AIC
- Hosting a reception for prospective or accepted students
The Office for Admission Services is working closely with the Office of Development and Alumni Relations to coordinate resources wisely and create more streamlined processes for volunteering. We are open to new ideas about alumni involvement in the admissions process and would value your feedback.
