Welcome to the School of Business Administration.
A review of this site will make it clear to you that our School of Business offers business courses across the full range of business disciplines - marketing, finance, economics, accounting, management, information systems. In keeping with the mission of the College, there are many opportunities to study business from an international perspective and there is an ongoing commitment to developing the liberal arts of communication and critical thinking.
We take justifiable pride in our outstanding faculty. They bring to the classroom a combination of academic credentials and practical experience, and they are fully committed to your success as a student and as a future member of the business community.
Business education at American International College has a long and interesting history. Ours was the first institution of higher education in Western Massachusetts to offer courses in business, and the first outside of the Boston area to offer an MBA. Today, graduates of the business school hold senior positions at major companies in our region, and in multinational corporations throughout the world. They also hold key positions in business education at a number of universities and professional associations. Opportunities in business education at the College were opened to women over one hundred years ago and our graduates helped to enable woman to enjoy success in the business enterprise.
While it is always difficult to generalize about teaching in such a wide variety of subject areas, several common features do characterize our approach to business education:
- We are committed to teaching and student development.
- We like to see the practical value of the business concepts, theories and principles we teach.
- We encourage all business students to pursue an internship, where they can experience these practical applications at first hand.
- We take diversity seriously and are proud of sending into the business world our students.
We feel that these values and this approach best meet the needs of our students and of the business community. As an indication of our commitment to these best practices and to continuous improvement in all that we do, the School of Business Administration has recently received accreditation from the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE).
