Philosophy
The Physical Therapy Program educates graduates to practice autonomously and ethically in the multifaceted and culturally diverse health care environment of today and the future. The graduates will continue to meet the present and future needs of society through continued life-long professional service and development.
In concert with the mission of the college, the Program in Physical Therapy facilitates a teaching-learning environment through interactive and collaborative learning experiences. This allows the student to demonstrate cognitive knowledge, psychomotor, and professional behaviors skills that will enable them to assume diverse life-long roles of health care practitioner, which includes clinician, advocate, manager, teacher, learner, and researcher.
We believe:
- that the practice of physical therapy is the ability to diagnose and treat individuals with movement dysfunctions and determine the need for treatment or referral to an appropriate health care professional
- in the inherent self worth of each individual and their capacity for intellectual and emotional growth.
- in the value of an interactive learning environment that promotes the development of lifelong learning, critical thinking, and mutual respect.
- that scholarship is integral to the advancement of the profession of physical therapy.
