"Organization Development is a dynamic value-based approach to systems change in organizations and communities; it strives to build the capacity to achieve and sustain a new desired state that benefits the organization or community and the world around them." (Organization Development Network)
The Master of Science in Organization Development prepares the individual to utilize the knowledge and techniques from the social and behavioral sciences to increase organizational effectiveness and outcomes by integrating individual motivation and organizational goals.
Organization Development studies the structure, processes, and function of organizations and employee attitudes, motives, values and patterns of behavior. After evaluating the organizational climate, an OD specialist recommends plans and interventions to promote change that will enable the organization to survive and prosper. Interventions are designed to maximize human potential, performance, and productivity.
Organization Development specialists are found in both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations and government agencies. A specialist in Organization Development can serve as an internal consultant within an organization or as an independent external consultant.
