Criminal Justice (MS)

The Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice is designed to provide students with the ability to analyze and deal with problems on four levels:

  1. Theoretical: Understanding the wide variety of perspectives on the nature of criminal justice problems.
  2. Practical: Choosing from among many alternative approaches the policies,  programs, strategies and tactics that are determined to be the most effective.
  3. Productive: Evaluating different organizational and administrative approaches to the implementation  of policies and programs and the management of agencies.
  4. Research and Evaluation: Determining the short-term and long-term success or failure of different approaches to criminal justice problems and analyzing the efficacy of theories of crime and delinquency causation.

The graduate program offers the fexibility necessary to accomodate the interests, objectives and schedules of people already employed in the criminal justice system, while also welcoming those who are considering the possibility of criminal justice careers.

The graduate program also stresses the interdisciplinary nature of criminal justice education and students are encouraged to take courses in cognate disciplines reated to their individual academic and career objectives.
