Elementary Education (M.Ed.)

 Elementary Education with Initial Licensure

Program Objectives
This program is designed for those with a baccalaureate degree seeking Initial licensure to teach at the elementary level (1-6).

Prerequisites

  1. An earned Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
    • Courses should include work in English Composition and literature
    • College mathematics
    • Laboratory science
    • The Arts
    • Health and physical education
    • History and other social studies
    • Introduction to psychology n Developmental psychology (or an appropriate psychology)
  2. Minimum cumulative average of 2.67 in the Baccalaureate Degree Program.
  3. Completed graduate admission application and three letters of reference.
  4. Personal interview and evaluation of undergraduate transcript.
  5. All graduate students are required to demonstrate successful completion and a passing score on the Communication and Literacy skills section of Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL), or comparable state teacher exam, before formal acceptance into the degree program. Note: Candidates are welcome to take up to nine credits of graduate coursework prior to formal acceptance into the degree program.
