Special Education (M.Ed.)

Program Objectives

This program is designed for those with a baccalaureate degree seeking Initial licensure to teach students with moderate disabilities in grades PreK-8 or 5-12.

Prerequisites

1. An earned Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a review of the transcript. Courses should include work in

2. Minimum cumulative average of 2.67 in the Baccalaureate Degree Program.

3. Completed graduate admission application and three letters of reference.

4. Personal interview and evaluation of undergraduate transcript.

5. All graduate students are required to demonstrate successful completion and a passing score on the Communication and Literacy Skills section of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) before formal acceptance into the degree program.

*Note: All candidates are welcome to take up to nine credits of graduate coursework prior to formal acceptance into the degree program.

Required Education Courses

With the above, the candidate must successfully complete a program portfolio to be eligible for licensure at the Initial level.

Additional Courses Required for Master's Degree (6 Credits)

Total: 30 Credits Note: There is a 7 year limit for completion of degree requirements including transfer courses requested.
