Requirements

Graduate degree programs have a minimum requirement of 30 credits and a ten-year time limit for completion. All course work at the graduate level must be B minus or better to receive credit. A candidate must also have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.0 to be eligible to receive a degree or to engage in any field-based practicum or internship such as student teaching. Admission to the graduate degree program is based upon the following:

  1. The candidate must be a graduate of an accredited four-year college to be considered for the Master's level program. Candidates for the Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study must possess a Master?s degree in education from an accredited institution.
  2. Cumulative grade point average of 2.67 in undergraduate course work.
  3. Successful completion of the Communication and Literacy portion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure. Up to 9 graduate credits may be taken prior to formal program acceptance.
  4. An interview to be scheduled with the Director of the program once all materials, including references, are received.
  5. Other requirements indicated in each program.
