Faculty and Staff

The American International College occupational therapy program offers personalized attention for each of our students with dedicated full-time faculty who integrate emerging trends and research with traditional occupational therapy values and evidence-based practice. In addition to the core faculty, adjunct and special instructors with advanced skills in specific practice areas add to the depth of the learning experience provided to our students. The competent School of Health Science office staff completes the circle of personalized attention for our students.

Cathy A. Dow-Royer, OTR/L
Associate Professor

B.S., Occupational Therapy, University of Illinois, 1975; M.A. Education, 1979, University of Illinois; Ed.D. Candidate, Higher Education, University of Massachusetts. Cathy Dow-Royer has been the Director of the Occupational Therapy Program since 1998. She has over 30 years of experience as a practicing clinician that includes 12 years as the owner of a private hand therapy practice. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she teaches the research series courses and guest lectures on topics such as splinting and upper extremity assessment and intervention. Research interests include the study of cultural forces on faculty scholarship in occupational therapy.

Jeanne M. Morin, OTD, OTR/L
Associate Professor

Jeanne Morin has been an occupational therapist for over 30 years. She has continually evolved as a therapist with post-professional pursuits that include a M.S. (1998) and doctorate (2005) in Occupational Therapy. Dr. Morin has over 12 years of experience in academia including serving as program director for an associate degree OTA program. Her teaching responsibilities reflect her primary practice area in school systems, development of occupations, activity analysis, kinesiology and occupational science. Her research interests include the study of how individuals’ contexts (environments) are incorporated into the OT process and the clinical utility of assessments and interventions in school based practice.

Sue Ordinetz, A.B.D., M.S., M.Ed., OTR/L
Assistant Professor

Sue Ordinetz, holds an M.S. and Certificate of Advanced Study in Occupational Therapy, an M.Ed. in Adapted Physical Education, and a B.S. in Physical Education and Special Education. Formerly the Director of Rehabilitation at Olympus Specialty Hospital in Springfield, MA, Professor Ordinetz has more than 25 years experience in service delivery, program development and management of human service programs. She teaches courses in neuroscience, adult and geriatric physical disabilities, assistive technology, and leadership. Professor Ordinetz’s publications include, Neuroanatomy Review, through OnlineCE.com, and Adult Neurological Dysfunction, a chapter in M. Jacobs & N. Austin (Eds.), Splinting the Hand and Upper Extremity. Her current research focus is evidence-based practice in higher education to complete her PhD in Postsecondary and Adult Education at Capella University.

Judith D. Stinson, M.S., OTR/L

After receiving her undergraduate degree in occupational therapy, Judy received her post-professional Master of Science degree in occupational therapy with a specialization in allied health administration. In addition to having her own pediatric practice for 18 years providing school-based and early intervention services, she has experience working in skilled nursing facilities, hand rehabilitation and home health. At AIC Judith coordinates the level I and Level II fieldwork placements and teaches courses in professional communication, health care policy, service delivery and management and supervision. In her role as fieldwork coordinator, she has the opportunity to network with colleagues from other programs and to maintain ties with clinicians throughout the country. She is an active member of the American Occupational Therapy Association and the New England Occupational Therapy Education Council .

Adjunct Instructors

Allison Sullivan, CAGS, MS, OTR/L
Adjunct Instructor

Allison holds a degree in Fine Arts from Amherst College, an MS in Occupational Therapy and a CAGS in Healthcare Administration from Springfield College. Her teaching responsibilities include psychosocial aspects of the development of occupations, therapeutic group processes, and psychosocial occupational therapy practice. Her clinical experience includes director and founder of S&S Therapy Services for Children, LLP providing treatment, supervision, training and consultation for students, teachers, and therapists in more than 20 public school systems in MA. Her innovative programs have received commendations from the MA Department of Education. Allison's research interests include evidence-based practice, motor enhanced curriculum instruction, and therapeutic use of yoga in occupational therapy practice.

Tina Champagne, MS, OTR/L
Adjunct Instructor

Tina received her BS and M.Ed. degrees from Springfield College in Springfield, MA and is a doctoral student at Creighton University. She is an independent consultant and manager in acute psychiatric services at Cooley-Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA. She is on the faculty of the National Technical Assistance Center for State Mental Health Planning for the National Executive Institute: Creating Violence Free and Coercion Free Mental Health Treatment Environments for the Reduction of Seclusion and Restraint funded by SAMHSA and is an Allen Authorized Cognitive Advisor, International. She has certifications in clinical aromatherapy, neurofeedback, and therapeutic listening. She developed the OT Innovations for Psychosocial Practice networking website and is the owner and chief consultant of Champagne Conferences & Consultation. Tina continues to participate in numerous research projects in the mental health area.
