Bachelor of Science in Health Science: Physical Therapy Track

Program learning outcomes for this degree are based on Massachusetts State Standards and the respective SPA (Specialty Professional Area) content. At the conclusion of the program, the candidate will be able to: 

• Demonstrate knowledge of the role of the physical therapist as a healthcare professional.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the professional behaviors associated with physical therapy.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of the physical therapist versus the physical therapist assistant.
• Attain the qualifications required for entry into an accredited entry-level DPT program.

In the three-year undergraduate phase, a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 and a grade point average of 3.2 in core physical therapy requirements must be attained to enter the professional phase of the physical therapy program. The above courses identified with an asterisk (*) make up the undergraduate core physical therapy requirements. The above requirements must be completed by the end of the spring semester prior to entering the professional phase of the physical therapy program.

• OT and PT Professional Day: This event, held by the Saremi Center for Career Development, prepares OT and PT students for their job search. Here, you’ll speak with area employers and can refine your presentation with a mock interview. Learn more about what to expect.
• Campus health promotion: Throughout the year, including a dedicated Physical Therapy Month, PT students hold events that increase health and wellness awareness among the AIC community.

AIC’s transfer partnerships with Holyoke Community College (HCC) and Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) provide an uninterrupted path from community college, as well as a $4,000 per year joint admissions scholarship.
