Why Major in Information Technology at AIC?

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (IT) at American International College is built in collaboration with Google and teaches networking technologies, PostgreSQL, operating systems and architectures, and data protection – as well as prepares you to sit for the industry-standard COMPTIA A exam.

Graduates of the IT program at AIC learn through real-world projects, and gain a comprehensive set of skills in troubleshooting IT problems, deploying and securing cloud based networks, implementing security best practices, and managing a range of operating systems. The culminating project for this program involves leading an organization through a digital transformation with a concrete IT plan, so students gain relevant experience for their future career.

Program Details

AIC’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program prepares you for immediate entry into the tech workforce after graduation.

  • Develop the ability to critically analyze and solve a wide range of IT challenges, including troubleshooting organizational and individual IT problems.
  • Gain proficiency in interacting with and managing technological systems within an organization, including deploying, configuring, securing, and managing both physical and cloud-based networks.
  • Enhance skills in communicating technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring successful collaboration and understanding. 
  • Prepare to adapt to the evolving landscape of Information Technology by staying current with emerging technologies and practices, including deploying fundamental security best practices and managing cloud resources. 
  • Successfully prepare for and sit for industry-recognized certifications such as CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the concepts tested. 
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using PostgreSQL for database management, ensuring effective data handling and storage solutions.

Scholarships

Grants and scholarships are awarded based on both need and merit.

AIC’s transfer partnerships with Holyoke Community College (HCC) and Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) provide an uninterrupted path from community college to our bachelor’s in Information Technology program, as well as a $4,000 per year joint admissions scholarship.
