AIC uses a holistic review process, which means we consider all your strengths during the application review. We realize that there are some things that a standardized test just cannot measure, which is why we now allow you to omit your scores if you don’t believe that they accurately reflect your academic potential.

If you are satisfied with your standardized test scores and believe they are a good representation of your academic achievement, then we are happy to consider them as part of your application. However, if you have a strong academic record and feel that your transcript is a better demonstration and reflection of your academic performance, then you can choose not to submit your scores.
AIC is test optional. This means that not submitting standardized test scores will not count against the applicant in any way.
AIC has always considered applicants from a holistic point of view. Because of this, the review process for submitters and non-submitters is similar. There are multiple factors that go into the application decision including your academic record, personal statement, letters of recommendation, and extracurricular involvement.
No. All applicants to AIC are welcome to choose to omit their standardized test scores.
However, the NCAA may still require athletes to submit scores for the Clearing House process. Please visit the NCAA Website or speak to your Guidance Counselor for more information about this process.
If a student submits scores or if the scores are listed on the student’s high school transcript, and the student is applying test optional, then the scores will not be considered in the application process. If you change your mind, contact your Admission Counselor and they will make the adjustment on your application.
AIC’s online application asks applicants if they would like their scores to be considered in the review process. Applicants who do not wish for their scores to be considered should choose “I will not be submitting my SAT/ACT scores.”
We do not require test scores for transfer applicants. Applicants are considered to be transfer students upon completion of 12 college-level credits after graduation from high school. Transfer requirements can be found on our Transfer Applicant page.
All applicants to American International College are considered for a merit scholarship upon acceptance.
Yes. First-year and transfer applicants who meet GPA requirements will be eligible for the Honors Program regardless of submission of standardized test scores.
