The 26th induction class of the Enfield Athletic Hall of Fame was celebrated Friday night. Rock-solid ice hockey defenseman Mike Little was the final honoree of the evening.   After four years of hockey at American International College, he turned pro in 2011 and played professionally for 13 seasons.

The final award was the FCBL’s Adam Keenan Award, given to one player on each of the FCBL’s franchises who exemplifies the outstanding attitude, character, and sportsmanship that is synonymous with Adam Keenan’s legacy. The summer of 1953 was a very productive one for Schenectady County baseball teams and included Niskayuna’s sweep through the New York State American Legion Tournament. Russ Vendetti, the pitching ace for Niskayuna Post 1092 American Legion, went 9-0 that summer, which included four playoff wins, and later went 6-0 his senior year at Nott Terrace….a performance that helped him earn an athletic scholarship from American International College.

John Gibbons, the First Black United States Marshal of Massachusetts, Passes Away 

John Gibbons, the first African American United States Marshal of Massachusetts, has passed away. Gibbons was a graduate of American International College (AIC) and went on to have an illustrious career in law enforcement. He received his undergraduate degree from the institution in 1977, a Master of Education in 1986, and was bestowed with an honorary doctorate in 2011. While attending AIC, he was an exceptional football player for the school’s team the Yellowjackets, and was inducted into their Athletics Hall of Fame in 2022.
