AIC’s graduate open houses are designed to give prospective students an arena to get all the information they need in one convenient location. Professor Shehong Chen will present “Modern China Through the Eyes of a Peasant Woman.” Her talk will draw upon her recent book “Daughter of Good Fortune: A Twentieth Century Chinese Peasant Memoir by Chen Huiqin with Shehong Chen” (University of Washington Press, 2015). Chen Huiqin’s memoir and Professor Shehong Chen’s talk will explore and illustrate the immense changes for ordinary rural people, and especially for women, experienced from the Communist Revolution of 1949 to the present day. Please join us, and as always, bring a crowd!

Griswold Theater

The Theater Arts Program at AIC will produce the musical, Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical. Hair is a stage work in two acts. There are no specific scenes. The setting indicates the fluid-abstract world of the 1960s as seen by, for, and about the “Flower Children” of the period. Performances are April 22nd at 7pm, April 23rd at 7pm, and April 24th at 2pm. Admission is free and donations are appreciated.
