The John and Mary Franco Family Foundation Amphitheater located in Courniotes Hall was named by AIC friend John Franco.
It isn’t surprising when former graduates donate to their alma mater—it feels good to give back to a school that helped shape one’s future. But when a college receives long-term support from outside its circle of alumni, clearly that indicates extraordinary ingenuity, integrity, and innovation have inspired the giving.
John A. Franco, Kentucky businessman and entrepreneur, became familiar with AIC’s mission and inspiring commitment to its students through long-time friend and AIC President Vince Maniaci. Impressed by AIC’s mission and dedication to accessibility and diversity, Franco has been a generous supporter since 2005.
“The types of students the College tries to bring in—international, first-generation—these can be the toughest kids to educate because they have no background or exposure to higher education in the family.
“On the other hand, so many generations before them have been building toward this moment when they can send this young person to college. These students want to honor that. They want to focus on becoming better people, being able to support their families, advance their careers, and contribute to their communities.”
Year after year, supporters like Franco go the extra mile to ensure that our students are provided with the best possible educational experience. It is their dedication to excellence that has helped fuel American International College’s status as an educational leader, here and abroad.
