Connecticut’s Lt. Governor writes a tribute to her aunt, and AIC alum, Mary Raissi Stewart who rings in 100 years.

The Lt. Governor’s opinion piece begins, “On June 25, my aunt, Mary Raissi Stewart, turns 100. She has lived an extraordinary life and is a testament to how women and immigrant families make such meaningful contributions to our communities.” Her aunt is AIC alum Mary Raissi Stewart ’42, Hon’13, and her article celebrates the accomplishments of immigrants, first generation college students, and women. The Lt. Governor concludes with the following: “So, happy birthday, Aunt Mary; I hope we make you proud! Thank you for being a strong Connecticut woman and for being an inspiration for me and the generations of women that followed in your footsteps.”

The Lt. Governor’s entire article can be found in The CT Post Online and additional CT news outlets. The College featured Mary when she was a mere 97 years old in Lucent magazine. Please click here to read this story about a remarkable woman.
