A Friend in Need is a Friend in Deed

Brit's Home Children

Britney Gengel, of Rutland, MA, was 19 when she perished in a January 2010 earthquake that struck the island nation of Haiti, killing about 300,000 people. In the aftermath of her death, which occurred during a college service trip intended to build an orphanage, the Be Like Brit Foundation constructed a 19,000-square-foot orphanage in her memory.

Britney’s sister and four of her best friends including Carly Goodell attended the dedication of Brit’s Home orphanage that serves 66 children.

Carly is enrolled in the master’s program in early childhood education at American International College in Springfield.
