Never Forget

AIC Students Planting Flags

Two AIC campus organizations, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) and POWER (Political Opinions Will Enable Reality), hosted an event of remembrance for the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Both campus organizations worked collaboratively to commemorate the day.

Beginning at 8:46 a.m., the moment the North Tower of the World Trade Center was hit, student volunteers began to place flags on the Quadrangle in remembrance of the nearly 3,000 lives lost.

Many college students have very little memory of what life was like around the time of the 9/11 attacks. The goal of this day is to create a display that will put into perspective the magnitude of the loss and honor all those who lost their lives that day.

The local media visited campus to see what our students were doing in addition to the many other communities in the area that had remembrances. You can see the entire story online at WWLP.com: Western Massachusetts pays respect to lives lost on 9/11.
