Nine Year Old

AIC Basketball Team with Giovanni Correa

Meet Giovanni Correa, the newest AIC Yellow Jacket. Gio was diagnosed with a neuroblastoma in his abdomen at three years old. He’s been through a lot in his young life, having completed numerous rounds of chemotherapy, radiation, and a stem cell transplant. The good news…Gio is now cancer free!

AIC Athletics partners with Team IMPACT, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization chartered to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening illnesses. Team IMPACT harnesses the power of teamwork by matching courageous children with college athletic teams. Team IMPACT children are drafted onto local college athletic teams and, to the greatest extent possible, become an official member of the team for the duration of their treatment and beyond.

Last week, Gio was signed to the AIC Men’s Basketball team with a contract, a basketball autographed by all the players, a team jersey with his name and number, and a slow-clap for the ages!
