Springfield, MA – The Division of Arts, Media, and Design, which launched in Fall 2023, is experiencing steady growth with strong enrollment across all new programs this semester. Students are also benefiting from a modernized environment equipped with cutting-edge technology.
Classrooms, studios, labs, and other areas in the Karen Sprague Cultural Arts Center have been upgraded with fresh paint, new equipment, and computers. A welcoming lounge area has also been created for students to unwind between classes.
One notable aspect of these spaces is their flexible design, which accommodates classes across all majors. This is most evident in the new Collab Lab—a multi-purpose classroom that can be used for any course within the program. Here, professors assign collaborative projects, providing students with access to advanced tools and real-world training experiences highly sought after by employers.
The Collab Lab is equipped with a 65-inch monitor with a laptop hookup, two 3D printers, photography lighting kits, rolling desks and chairs for flexibility, and various art supplies.
Additional enhancements include:
The Division of Arts, Media, and Design offers undergraduate majors in Public Relations and Social Media Administration, Digital Media Production, Arts and Entertainment Management, and Graphic Arts and Design.
Additionally, the division offers minors in each of those subjects as well as complementary areas including Fashion Design and Merchandising, Music Technology and Production, Creative Writing, and Photography.
Frank Borrelli, assistant dean of student support and experiential learning and chair of the division, is enthusiastic about how the modernized academic setting enhances the student experience. “The academic programs in this division, combined with these upgrades, offer students a truly 21st-century education,” Borrelli stated. “This revitalized academic space reflects AIC’s commitment to innovation, equipping future leaders in creative industries with the skills they need to succeed.”
