When the Wall Came Tumbling Down

Associate Professor of History and Chair of the History Department Thomas Maulucci

An anniversary to remember: The Fall of the Berlin Wall

November 9, 2019, marked the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. For twenty-eight years, the wall separated East and West Berlin, not only cutting through the heart of the German capital, but piercing the hearts of family members separated for decades. The wall was also a symbol of communism and the Iron Curtain in eastern Europe. Associate Professor of History and Chair of the History Department Thomas Maulucci, joined the host of the local PBS affiliate to talk about the historic event—and reflect on what the fall of the wall means thirty years later.
