Adam Brunet, PhD

Associate Professor, and Chair of Chemistry

Adam Brunet is an alumnus of American International College and went on to receive his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Princeton University. He did a post-doc through Harvard University and now teaches Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry at AIC. He also received an MBA at the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts and worked for a number of years as a Financial Planner and Advisor. As a result he has found himself teaching Investing as well as Chemistry. Recently, he has also been teaching The Chemistry of Cannabis and The Endocannabinoid System courses for the MS program in Cannabis Commerce and Science.

His graduate work in Chemistry focused on the protein folding problem; his post-doc was carried out at Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital in Boston, and involved cytokine research.

He has held various credentials such as a Series 7 and Series 66 (Stockbroker) Licenses, Massachusetts Insurance Agent License, and built a Financial Advisory practice under the Rubric of Ameriprise FInancial, Inc. (formerly the Financial Planning division of American Express).

He has taught at the undergraduate and graduate level, including such courses as General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Spectroscopy, and Investments. He was also the faculty supervisor for many years for the Chemistry Department’s independent research capstone course, taken by senior undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry majors.

In the deeper mists of time, he was an avionics technician in the US Navy, and taught ocenaography at the Sea Education Association in Woods Hole. He currently lives on a dead-end dirt road in the woods with his wife Julia, son Dante, and a dog named Apple.
