At AIC, one of our primary goals is to give you the tools you need to build a career. For students who have chosen a career that requires education beyond a bachelor’s degree, we have creative specific programs that prepare you for your next educational challenge.
Our Pre-Professional programs can set you on the path to a career in law, dentistry, medicine, veterinary medicine, optometry, osteopathy, and podiatry all with the liberal arts at the core of your education. Our Pre-Professional Studies are not majors in themselves. Students should consult with the advisor of their desired Pre-Professional program for career guidance and to determine an appropriate major.
Students who complete AIC’s Pre-Law program have a leg up when it comes to applying to and succeeding in law school. Whether you wish to be a corporate lawyer or a public defense attorney, we offer a robust curriculum that gets you on track for your law degree. Upon completion of our program, you will have all of the necessary credits to enter the graduate law school of your choosing.
Students aspiring to careers associated with the law will need to select a specific major related to their intended careers. Criminal justice, English, history, and
political science are common choices. Students should consult with the College’s Pre-Law advisor who will provide career guidance to students. Each student will also work with an advisor in his/her major.
(Pre-Dental, Medical, Optometry, Osteopathy, Podiatry, Veterinary)
“Pre-Medical Studies,” in its many variations, is not a major in itself. Students aspiring to careers in the health sciences will need to select a specific major appropriate for their intended graduate studies. Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry are common choices. Students should consult with the College’s Pre-Medical advisor, so that they may satisfy the entrance requirements for their professional training. Each student will also work with an advisor in his/her major.
Students planning careers in medicine are strongly advised to take Biology 1400 and 1500 (with labs) or Chemistry 1600 and 1700 (with labs) in the first year. Students are advised, regardless of which major is chosen, to take mathematics through calculus (Math 2400). In addition, Biology 1150, 1850, and 3150 are 1-credit seminar courses intended to introduce students to the health professions and to the process of applying to professional schools.
Complete your general education requirements while you prepare for the profession you’re passionate about. With AIC’s Pre-Professional programs you can get a head start on your career in Dentistry, Medicine, Optometry, Osteopathy, Podiatry, Veterinary Medicine, or Law.
You’ll be provided a comprehensive foundation of liberal arts studies and directed coursework that help prepare you for your expected professional training’s entrance requirements.
All students in Pre-Professional programs receive a comprehensive liberal arts education that prepares them for a number of post-graduate possibilities, not limiting them to just one career track.
