At American International College (AIC), we are committed to creating a community that is inclusive, respectful, and equitable. AIC prohibits discrimination or harassment based on characteristics such as race, color, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, national origin, or veteran status. This policy applies to all AIC programs and activities, including those conducted off-campus.

Definitions

Sexual Harassment: Unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature that creates a hostile environment.

Sexual Assault: Any non-consensual sexual act proscribed by law.

Consent: An affirmative, conscious, and voluntary agreement to engage in sexual activity.

Prohibited Conduct

AIC prohibits discrimination and harassment of all kinds, including:

Discrimination: Unfair treatment based on protected characteristics.

Discriminatory Harassment: Severe, pervasive conduct that limits a person’s access to programs or creates a hostile environment.

Retaliation: Threats or discrimination against those reporting or involved in investigations.

Reporting Procedures

Individuals can report concerns through both informal and formal channels. Informal resolution options may include mediation or supportive measures, while formal complaints will be investigated according to AIC procedures.

Supportive Measures

Supportive measures, such as counseling or academic accommodations, are available to individuals involved in complaints, regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed. Contact a Title IX Coordinator for more information.

Notice of Rights

Individuals involved in the reporting and investigation process have the right to:

  • Seek assistance and support from Title IX Coordinators.
  • Be free from retaliation for reporting or participating in investigations.
  • Receive timely updates regarding the status of their complaint.

Investigation Timeframe

AIC aims to complete investigations within a reasonable timeframe, typically within 60 days, depending on the complexity of the case.

Non-Retaliation Statement

AIC maintains a strong commitment to non-retaliation for anyone who reports or participates in the investigation of discrimination or harassment.
