International Learning Opportunity for Health Sciences Students


The School of Health Sciences at American International College, in partnership with Global Clinical Education LLC, is proud to offer a unique service-learning opportunity that will send students to Morocco for a nine-day clinical and cultural experience. Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Nursing, and Public Health students will spend ten days in Morocco, gaining hands-on clinical experience while immersing themselves in a foreign culture.

Led by Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy Said Nafai, OTD, OTR/L, CLT, students in this program will work with industry professionals to provide care to children and families while engaging in a number of unique and fun cultural experiences. The trip will see students volunteering in nine cities throughout Morocco, including Casablanca, Rabat, and the Blue City of Chefchaouen.

Highlights of AIC’s International Service Trip to Morocco include:

  • Visit the iconic city of Casablanca and see the Hassan II Mosque, the third largest mosque in the world
  • Volunteer at an orphanage in Tangier City and provide clinical care to newborn children
  • Experience the one-of-a-kind “Blue City” of Chefchaouen
  • Explore Karaouiyine University, the first university in the world in the city of Fes, the largest medieval city in the world
  • Visit Fes Hospital and meet with local doctors and medical students in the hospital’s rehabilitation program
  • Volunteer with and care for children suffering from developmental disabilities in Meknes City
  • Tour the ancient markets and cosmopolitan wonders of Rabat, the capital city of Morocco, and volunteer with cancer patients at the Jannat Association
  • Learn to surf and take a camel ride along Mahdia Beach in Kenitra while volunteering with local orphan children
  • Attend the 6th Annual International Conference of the Occupational Therapy Association of Morocco
