Doctor of Education programs are online, non-licensure programs for practitioners in education, educational leadership, counseling, and supervisory roles, and higher education who already hold an accredited master’s degree in education, educational administration, psychology, counseling, or a closely aligned field. The 4 Doctoral non-licensure tacks to obtain EdD are Teaching & Learning, Educational Leadership & Supervision, Higher Education, and Organizational Leadership and Development. These paths are 51 credits each and the program is an asynchronous online program with 3 trimesters. Our model includes collaboration with the Dissertation Chair early in the program by the end of year one.
The Doctor of Education Degree in Educational Leadership and Supervision is designed to prepare scholar practitioners to become effective advocates who can successfully operate within the social, cultural, organizational, political, and educational contexts of their institutions and communities. This specialization allows students to elevate their academic understanding and craft their expertise as a scholar-practitioner working with traditional and unorthodox methods and to prepare them to become transformative leaders
The Higher Education specialization is intended to provide the knowledge and qualifications to compete for high-level positions in public and private colleges and universities. This degree is designed to produce leaders who can influence organizations and produce positive transformational change. This program provides individuals the knowledge to refine their skills as a scholar-practitioner and enhance their understanding in student development, leadership, managing higher education, supporting student success and educational policies and systems.
The Doctor of Education Program in Teaching and Learning is designed to prepare scholar practitioners to function effectively within a chosen educational area such as special education, elementary/middle/secondary school education, adult learning, global or alternative education. This program provides individuals the knowledge to develop expertise in an area of education that impacts teaching and learning.
EdD in Organizational Leadership and Development
The Organizational Leadership and Development specialization is designed to prepare leaders with the knowledge necessary to lead and develop organizations across various sectors, including business, government, healthcare, and non-profit organizations, in addition to educational institutions. This track will focus on leadership theories, organizational dynamics, strategic decision-making, and the cultivation of a positive organizational culture. The program will prepare candidates to lead and manage change in diverse settings, fostering innovation and driving sustainable organizational growth.
