Learning Outcomes

  • Be able to articulate, verbally and in writing, an advanced understanding of scholarly theory and research on the art and science of teaching, as it relates to one's chosen population of practice, including articulating a theory of best teaching practice as it relates to one's chosen population of practice.
  • Be able to articulate, verbally and in writing, an advanced understanding of seminal theories of human learning, as they relate to one's chosen population of practice, including demonstrating an advanced ability to apply learning theory to teaching with one's chosen population of practice.
  • Be able to articulate, verbally and in writing, an advanced understanding of various theories and models of assessing student learning, including the ability to develop an evaluation strategy for use with one's chosen population of practice.
  • Be able to articulate, verbally and in writing, an advanced understanding of a variety of influences on individual learning and the implications that such influences may have on effective teaching strategies, including being able to develop strategies for addressing the needs of diverse learners within one's chosen population of practice.
  • Be able to articulate, verbally and in writing, an advanced understanding of scholarly research on classroom management and instructional strategies designed to increase student learning and motivation.
  • Be able to describe how classroom management and instruction could interact to improve learning and motivation among one's chosen population of practice.
  • Be able to articulate, verbally and in writing, scholarly theory and research on curriculum models, curriculum development, and assessment of curriculum effectiveness.
  • Be able to articulate a process for developing, implementing, assessing and refining curriculum appropriate for one's chosen population of practice.
